Wildlife

You have entered the heart of Tony Forrest Wildlife Art -my oils of African wildlife!  My whole life revolves around painting in oils, the incredible atmosphere of the African plains and bush, its sheer beauty and of course its wildlife.
I have visited this amazing continent on many occasions and it will never fail to inspire me.  I can't describe how I feel when I wake up at camp to the sound of distant hyenas or lions.  It is always an unforgettable experience and it is simply not possible for me to go there without turning everything I see into an oil painting in my mind's eye.

Much of my work is now being sold through Call of Africa galleries in Florida, USA.  You may enquire at the galleries direct (see "Call of Africa" on the Links page) or email me where I will be happy to help.  Please note that all enquiries from the United States will ultimately be directed through the Call of Africa galleries.  Any originals on this gallery page which are available from Call of Africa are clearly noted as such.

Etosha Waterhole
The idea was to create a graphic image with bold stripes and blue sky - or reflection of it. I've added a gentle suggestion of vegetation in the water just to give the feel of being somewhere near dry land! This painting will be available from Call...
The Masai Mara.
New canvas which will be on show at 2008 Safari Club International, Reno, USA. This elephant has the largest tusks I've yet come across in Africa. I love big, powerful paintings like this.
Mirage SOLD
On my last visit to Etosha, Namibia, I saw many scenes like this, with the amazing heat haze mirage in the distance. It really does look like they are walking on water some of the time! Intriguing lighting effects are one of the aspects of painting...
